As a first time mom, I’m quite particular about the products I use for my my little girlie’s bath time. Truth be told, when she was a newborn, I was afraid of giving her a bath. Baby skin is so delicate.
When it comes to keeping our baby clean, there’s a lot of bath time products available that choosing one can sometimes be overwhelming. There are soaps, shampoos, conditioners and baby washes. Some parents go for organic products while others need hypoallergenic ones. How do you know which one is best for your baby?
Personally, I now prefer products that have natural ingredients and have been tested as gentle for the skin. Before, I wasn’t that specific about my criteria.
When my daughter became a toddler, I actually tried using a popular local organic baby wash on her. We really liked it because it didn’t have a strong scent and was quite affordable. However, two things happened that made me switch. First, she got this baby wash in her eyes. She cried and screamed. it hurt her eyes. I think it was quite traumatic for her because for several days after, she refused to have her hair shampooed. That was a bit stressful for me too.
Next, after several months of use, she had this stubborn rash on her thigh. For several days, we used her usual diaper cream on it but it refused to go away.
Finally, we went to her pediatrician and her doctor made me realize that organic doesn’t necessarily mean gentle for sensitive skin. She told us to look for products that have been dermatologically-tested and one of the brands she recommended was Aveeno®.

Aveeno® Baby Wash and Shampoo
This product has a pleasant light scent and lathers well to make fun bubbles a child can play with. My daughter likes to have a bit poured into her bath water to make it bubbly. I think she loves the smell too since she lets everyone smell her hair after taking a bath.
This baby bath product is pediatrician-recommended since it is specially formulated to nourish and protect gentle skin. It blends natural oat extract that keeps that skin hydrated without drying. It is soap-free, tear-free and paraben-free.It is also hypoallergenic and can be used daily even on newborns. I’ve been using it on my little girlie for a few months now and I love it!

I think Aveeno® Baby Wash and Shampoo is a really great product that’s why I’m quickly becoming an #OA mom. Only Aveeno gives me peace of mind that my little girlie’s cleanser won’t sting her eyes or irritate her skin.I just wish though that the bottle comes with a pump-top so it’s easier to use and I’ll get the precise amount I need to make a good lather. I’m happy overall that my little girlie’s enjoying her bath time so much that sometimes it takes almost an hour for her to finish! I think it’s really warm these days too that her long baths is a great way for her to keep cool.
